    The cobalt blue cases are hard to find and always command a premium, hence the high minimum. It was owned by the long time Ansonia collector, consequently it is near perfect. Clean and shining inside and out. It has a very nice 2 piece porcelain dial, open escape, original hands, fancy sash, heavy beveled glass. Things like pendulums, back doors, etc. are all original on the clocks from this collection. It is 11.5 inches high, 13.5 inches wide. The cobalt blue case is signed on the back, has a goodly amount of gold highlighting, pink flowers on the front, sides, and top. Ly-Ansonia #2566.

The 20-inch walnut or perhaps mahogany case has an old finish and good patina; the door glass is original with a stenciled pattern. All the finials are correct. The paper dial is a replacement with an alarm ring but the alarm mechanism has been removed. The signed, 8-day movement is running and striking a wire gong on the hours and half-hours. beat scale inside, two-barrel pendulum, and a label on the back. A nice example.

    This is the first of several Ansonia clocks from one collection. All are immaculate, refinished and/or cleaned, good running order, and original as far as we can tell at first glance. We will go thru each clock closely and point out any deficiencies. This clock is 8 day, time only, original signed dial, pendulum and stick, and best of all, the original glass with gold leaf announcement, “Presented by H. E. French 1895”. From some notes that came with the clock, it was established that Mr. French was a Jeweler & Optician, Wood Square, Hudson, Mass., in the late 1800’s, early 1900’s. The excellent oak case is 40 inches high. Ly-Ansonia #618.

    Jan 2022 – #94 Antique American Clocks Ansonia Clock Co. “Queen Anne”, ca 1901. This is a pretty clock, don’t you think? It’s the Queen Anne, in oak (the only way it came), with a clean finish and a medium oak stain on the 40-inch case. This example is a time and half-hour strike, on a cathedral gong that sounds deep and rich. The 8-day movement is a typical Ansonia workhorse, signed, with an Ansonia gong mount. The dial is glossy paper, the hands are correct, and the door glass is old. running and striking as expected. I don’t see anything not to like, other than the lack of a label. Horton’s sold one in 2018 for $449.

    40.25 inches oak case, clean as a whistle. This collector was very fastidious and would have nothing with a little grime on it in his house. This case like most of the previous, has a distinctive style, ropes, twists, turns, etc. Two piece dial has original paint, a little paint loss around the time wind arbor. This one has a two spring 8 day movement and strikes half hours on a gong. Like all the rest it is running nicely. The brass is polished and the case like the others, is clean enough to spread a picnic on. Ly-Ansonia #622.
